Proposal to SUNY csi - May 14, 2016

Unfortunately we were notified from SUNY Charter Schools Institute that our proposal has not yet been accepted. SUNY recommended that we make some changes to our proposal and will be sending a detailed response shortly.  Starting a charter school is a process we knew this when we undertook the challenge. We are determined to bring another choice in public education to our rural NY area. Due to many factors including; the challenge of transportation, limited rural services, economic challenges, and limitations in how to teach in your average public school, the support for another public education option is strong.

As we move forward we want to educate everyone on how charter schools work and how they will affect the district and how they are beneficial for the district. Keep in touch here on our website, via our social media page on Facebook or ask to join our email list at truxtonacademy@gmail.com.

This school is not about replacing Hartnett Elementary.  We can never replace Hartnett.  It is about creating a new and different learning environment available to all students and that will help educate differently than our traditional public school districts and for many students will bring learning to their finger tips in a new and positive way.

Full Proposal - Submitted March 29, 2016

The next step for Truxton Academy Charter School is to have our full proposal reviewed and accepted by SUNY Charter Schools Institute.

The deadline was March 29th at noon and our submission was successfully uploaded.  We should hear from SUNY in early May if our proposal is accepted as is, accepted with needed revision or if it is turned down.  Even if our proposal is turned down, we can still re-apply and keep working towards an acceptable proposal and we intend to do just that.  We knew this was a difficult and competative process going in, and we will continue to work hard to bring a quality charter school to the children of Truxton and our neighboring rural communities. As always, we thank you for your continued support.

Letter of Intent accepted!

SUNY Charter Schools Institute has accepted our Letter of Intent bringing us one step closer to opening Truxton Academy Charter School in the Fall of 2017.  Our next step in the charter school process is to submit our full proposal on March 29th.  Our goal is to bring project-based learning through rural life teaching, using environmental sustainability and agriculture education.  We have a lot of work ahead of us to make Truxton Academy a new and innovative elementary school and we welcome your thoughts and ideas as we continue this journey!

As always, we thank you for your continued support!

Letter of Intent - Submission to SUNY charter institute - february 29, 2016

We will be submitting our Letter of Intent for Truxton Academy Charter School on Monday, February 29, 2016.  As many of you may remember, our last submission was in June 2015 to NYSED.  We have chosen to submit this Letter of Intent through the SUNY Charter Schools Institute.  We have found that SUNY has allowed us a more indepth understanding of the steps not just proposing a new school but in creating what will be a sucessful and fiscally sound, wonderfully rich student centered learning experience for our children.  With SUNY's guidance and your continued support and feedback, we cannot wait to open the doors to Truxton Academy Charter School in Fall 2017!

Thank you!

Letter of Intent - submitted June 22, 2015

NYSED - Charter School Office
Our Letter of Intent for the Truxton Academy Charter School was submitted on June 22nd.

Much to our disappointment, NYSED did not accept our Letter of Intent for this round.  Recommendations were made and will be followed for our next application.  We know that this is an extremely competitive and challenging process and we want to re-assure you that we have not slowed down.

We have been extremely blessed with new supporters and professional advisement exceeding all of our expectations.  This new found support has validated our previous efforts and provided a renewed energy to press forward.  We will continue our pursuits to ensure that the Truxton Community and our surrounding neighbors have an exceptional educational opportunity for our children at Truxton Academy Charter School.

We thank your for your continued support.
